The 13,800-seat Stadium Court is the centerpiece of the Tennis Center at Crandon Park facility, home of Miami Open Tennis since 1987. Miami Open Tennis uses 12 courts in competition courts, plus six practice courts. The facility is also home to four European red clay, four American green clay courts and two grass courts.
During the 2013 Miami (Sony) Open, event organizers unveiled plans for a fully-renovated Crandon Park Tennis Center and a construction timeline that would see the project getting underway in 2014. The Tournament's vision includes permanent show courts, landscaped green spaces, and the addition of new park facilities that will be open to the public when the Miami Open is not in session.
The Miami Open's owner, IMG, is prepared to begin construction on April 1, 2014, immediately following the 2014 Tournament.
