Mobile App will enhance the overall fan experience

MIAMI – The Miami Open presented by Itaú and SAP, the event’s Official Mobile App and Analytics partner, unveiled the 2016 Miami Open mobile app featuring new updates to enhance the overall fan experience.

The Miami Open app enables fans onsite, and from around the world, to access real-time scores, news, stats, player profiles, schedules, videos and more.  Available in English and Spanish, the app is a must for anyone looking for the most up-to-date tournament information, schedules and stats. Fans can follow the event and their favorite players more closely via push notifications that alert them to real-time match scores, player appearances, special events and promotions during the tournament.

The most glamorous two-weeks of tennis will take place, March 21-April 3, at the Crandon Park Tennis Center in Miami, Florida. With ticket packages starting at just $136 and individual session tickets starting at $31, fans can be close to the action for some of the best tennis in the world. For more information go to www.miamiopen.com or call the Miami Open ticket office at 305-442-3367.

New to the app this year are more comprehensive head-to-head player matchup information and player profiles. Over the last six years, SAP has continued to enhance the tournament’s mobile app, bringing fans from around the globe closer to the action. Powered by SAP, the Miami Open mobile app offers access to exclusive content, news, virtual replays, fan polls, statistics, player profiles and photos, along with ticketing and tournament information.

“The Miami Open is always looking for new and exciting ways to reach our fans both onsite and around the world,” said Adam Barrett, Miami Open Tournament Director. “Each year we strive to enhance our overall guest experience and SAP continually finds innovative ways to do so through the mobile app. Our fans will appreciate the app’s new features, as well as SAP’s other activations throughout the Tournament.”

“We are excited to return as the Analytics partner of the Miami Open presented by Itaú for the eighth year in a row, working closely with the tournament to bring the best tennis experience to fans,” said Jenni Lewis, head of tennis technology for SAP. “In addition to the SAP Insights Wall and SAP Tournament Centres within the Itaú Fan Activation Zone that allow attending fans to dive deeper into player and match statistics, we’re also launching the official Miami Open Tournament App and social media campaigns (#SAPCoachesView and #SAPStatoftheDay) that will help fans following from home feel closer to the on-court action.”

Working in close collaboration with Itaú, SAP is also proud to present the Insights Wall and Tournament Centers onsite at this year’s tournament. Located in the Itaú Fan Experience Zone, SAP Insights Wall and Tournament Centres provide fans with deeper analytics and insights on all players and matches throughout the tournament.

This year, the Insights Wall incorporates more statistics, tournament content, videos and social media analysis. The Tournament Centres are interactive kiosks that allow fans to explore tournament stats, fan polls and more, at a deeper level and at their own pace. Additionally, fans can create personalized “Memory Maker” postcards including special messages they can share on their social channels.

In an effort to provide next-level analytics, SAP is partnering with the WTA to kick off the #SAPCoachesView at the 2016 Miami Open. SAP and the WTA will be engaging with fans on social media throughout the Miami Open with insights from SAP Tennis Analytics for Coaches so that fans can access the same unique analytics that players and coaches see during matches. The campaign goes one step further and provides expert commentary by WTA coaches so that fans can get a better understanding of the data and how coaches are using that information with players on court during match play.
