Miami Gardens, FL — A beautiful second day of spring in South Florida turned out to be a record-breaking one at the 2019 Miami Open presented by Itaú. In only the fourth day at its new venue — Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Open history was made as 21,825 fans made their way through the gates, the largest single-session attendance in tournament history.

A combination of thrilling tennis matches and incredible experiences catered directly to fans drew the record-shattering crowd on March 21, 2019. The previous record of 18,910 was set during Session 9 in 2007.

Session 5 — the day session on Day 4 of the 2019 Miami Open, saw matches featuring seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams in her record 20th appearance in the main draw, former Grand Slam champions Petra Kvitova and Victoria Azarenka, and tour veteran David Ferrer in his final appearance in Miami.

This Thursday afternoon crowd saw memorable early round matches and delved into the new guest experiences presented by the Miami Open following its revolutionary move. With the middle weekend coming up, the excitement and action are sure to ratchet up even more.
