DAY 7 PREVIEW: DJOKOVIC AND HALEP ON STADIUM COURT, VENUS ON GRANDSTAND

By Tucker Verdi

Miami Gardens, FL — Sunday has yet another jam-packed slate of matches scheduled, with a current or former World No. 1 or major champion taking to every single court that features a match.

Stadium Court will host a running list of the biggest names in the game throughout Day 7 of the 2019 Miami Open presented by Itaú. The defending men’s singles champion here in Miami — No. 7 seed John Isner, will play for spot in the round of 16 against Albert Ramos-Viñolas at noon ET.

Then the top seeds remaining in the men’s and women’s draws will take to the court to finish up the day session at Hard Rock Stadium. No. 2 seed Simona Halep faces Lucky Loser Polona Hercog while World No. 1 Novak Djokovic goes up against Federico Delbonis, both competing for a spot in the fourth round.

To begin the night session, No. 4 seed and reigning women’s singles title winner Sloane Stephens continues her march towards a repeat with a match against Tatjana Maria. No. 27 seed Nick Kyrgios will close out play on this middle Sunday in a late-night bout with Dusan Lajovic.

On Grandstand, No. 25 American Daniella Collins — a surprise semifinalist here last year, gets play started against unseeded Wang Yafan. Following Collins/Wang, one of two matchups between seeded players on the day takes place between No. 12 Milos Raonic and No. 19 Kyle Edmund.

Venus Williams will take to Grandstand looking to add another upset to her list, with No. 14 seed Daria Kasatkina standing in her way this time. The seven-time Grand Slam and three-time Miami Open champion will be followed by former World No. 1 Karolina Plísková, who battles fierce Frenchwoman Alizé Cornet.

No. 11 seed Borna Coric closes out play on Grandstand against Jeremy Chardy around 7:00PM ET.

2016 French Open doubles champions Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez face the tandem of Ivan Dodig and Édouard Roger-Vasselin in the first match on Butch Buchholz Court.

The team of Ashleigh Barty and Victoria Azarenka — after upsetting the No. 1 seed pairing of Barbora Krejcíková and Katerina Siniaková in the first round, will play their second round match on Court 6 around 1:00PM ET against Aleksandra Krunic and Alexandra Panova.
