In this year’s Miami Open, John Isner proved why he is America’s top player. In an impressive run to the semifinals, he defeated three top ten young guns in Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic and Kei Nishikori without a break of serve. He answers our questions:

What is your favorite place to go on vacation and why?

Anywhere in the mountains. I prefer the mountains over the beach.

What is one thing that most people do not know about you?

I am very, very neat.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I am a very good fisherman

What is your favorite song on your playlist right now?

Tim McGraw, Shotgun Rider

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you bring?

I would bring my dog Magill, my girlfriend and my family.

What is your least favorite workout and why?

Bulgarian squats because they are so hard and my legs are so long.

What are you most looking forward to about next year’s Miami Open?

The good food!

What’s the best birthday/holiday gift you’ve ever received?

A leaf blower.

What is the most addicting app on your phone?

I actually don’t have that many apps.

What is your earliest childhood memory of tennis?

Winning the NC State closed 12 and under.
